canvas-design — illustration

What it is

canvas-design is a skill that creates static visual art in two steps. First it writes a 4-6 paragraph design philosophy, an aesthetic movement, as a .md file. Then it expresses that philosophy on a canvas as a .pdf or .png that is about 90% visual design and 10% essential text. Outputs are meant to be original and to carry a subtle conceptual reference to the user's topic.

Who it's for

  • Users who want a poster, piece of art, or other static visual design
  • Users who want an art-forward .png or .pdf rather than a text-heavy document
  • Users who want a written design philosophy delivered with the artwork
  • Users who want a multi-page, coffee-table-book-style series of related pieces

Requirements

Requirements

  • Ability to output .md, .pdf, and .png files
  • Access to the ./canvas-fonts directory, which the skill says to search for fonts
  • Ability to download fonts as needed (the source says to download and use whatever fonts are needed)

Examples

Poster request with a movement-style philosophy

Prompt
prompt
Create a poster for a ceramics studio.

Expected output: This is an illustrative prompt, not taken from the source. The skill applies when a user asks for a poster, art piece, or design. It first writes a philosophy .md, using a movement name such as "Chromatic Silence" and 4-6 paragraphs, then renders a single-page .pdf or .png.

Philosophy example: Concrete Poetry

Prompt
prompt
"Concrete Poetry"
Philosophy: Communication through monumental form and bold geometry.
Visual expression: Massive color blocks, sculptural typography (huge single words, tiny labels), Brutalist spatial divisions, Polish poster energy meets Le Corbusier.

Expected output: One of the condensed philosophy examples in the source. The full philosophy should be 4-6 substantial paragraphs.

Philosophy example: Geometric Silence

Prompt
prompt
"Geometric Silence"
Philosophy: Pure order and restraint.
Visual expression: Grid-based precision, bold photography or stark graphics, dramatic negative space. Typography precise but minimal - small essential text, large quiet zones.

Expected output: Another source example of how a short movement name and philosophy guide the visual output.

Multi-page request

Prompt
prompt
Make a three-page version of this piece.

Expected output: Illustrative prompt, not from the source. The multi-page option says additional pages should be distinct twists on the original philosophy and bundled in one .pdf or several .pngs, so the set tells a story.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Pro:Two-step process produces a reusable design philosophy .md alongside the final artwork
  • Pro:Strict layout rules: nothing overlaps, nothing falls off the page, margins are kept
  • Pro:Minimal-text, visual-first approach keeps output art-like rather than document-like
  • Pro:Supports multi-page output that stays coherent with the original philosophy

Cons

  • Con:Output is limited to .md, .pdf, and .png files
  • Con:Defaults to a single page unless more pages are requested
  • Con:The user's input is treated only as a foundation, so the result may not follow literal instructions closely
